AKA SUSHI

AKA Sushi offers a sleek and transparent dining experience where eaters can observe the sushi-making process. Synecdoche designed the 2,800 SF expansion in Jackson, MI, with Architect of Record daub-lab.

Corian counters fold to bench seating as a continuous band around the restaurant connecting the entry to dining. The sushi kitchen and bar are carved out of the Corian band, framing the active kitchen as a dining experience.

Whitewashed pine wall slips past the dining room to the kitchen entrance. The pine wall wrap is bound in contrast by dark tile flooring and an acoustically treated ceiling.
