K.WEST SPA

19th Century House turned Modern Spa.

An adaptive reuse of an existing 19th century house in Ann Arbor, MI, Synecdoche transformed the 2,200 SF space into a tranquil spa for K.WEST Skin Body Spirit.

Minimally designed to display themes of wellness and transformation, entry into the spa doubles as reception and retail space.

The front room on the main floor was converted into a nail salon. Characterized with copper pedicure bowls and lounge seats on whitewashed platforms built to blend with the original floors.

The upstairs space was divided into 4 tranquil spa rooms with a reading nook and supply station.

Photos by Abby Rose capture how the soft tones and textures throughout give a modern and refreshing look to the space.

Collaborating with Architect of Record 5/8ths Architecture, Synecdoche designed this unique adaptive reuse project.
