PARK(ING) DAY
Synecdoche Design partnered with the Ann Arbor Art Center in 2019 to bring the international movement of PARK(ing) Day to Ann Arbor, Michigan.
PARK(ing) Day is an annual event that encourages community members to transform metered parking spaces into temporary green spaces. First occurring in San Francisco in 2005, the movement has grown to inspire cities around the world to transform parking spaces into dynamic public spaces on the third Friday in September every year.
Synecdoche and A2AC Collaborated with a diverse group of downtown Ann Arbor businesses and restaurants to create 15 unique pop-up spaces. Parking spaces were transformed into interactive art installations, lounge spaces, a dog park and more. The parklets were populated with giant board games, yard games, and picnic tables.
