CHURCH STREET LOBBY
A custom-designed installation characterizes the renovation of this building lobby in downtown Ann Arbor, MI, coordinating with updated lighting and color schemes.
Wrapping the walls and ceiling of the lobby is Synecdoche's bright blue installation of paneled aluminum bars with LED back lights. Using the existing soffit structure, this 18 ft x 25 ft canopy and wall piece proposes a unique lighting strategy with minimal intrusion, while creating a striking graphic of patterned lines in the central corridor.
The expansive mixed-use lobby connects both retail and residential program, and sees heavy traffic from customers, tenants, and other patrons. New stone flooring meets a dark gray accent wall on the north side of the lobby while the bright blue aluminum frames overhead encourage patrons to move linearly through the space.
